Why the #MakeRemoteWork survey happened

In April 2018, we set out for a team retreat with the goal of finding answer to the question-
What can RemotePanda do to help Remote economy really work out?
To be able to find answers, we needed to find the questions. What are the things that make people choose remote workers for? What things work for most people, what things do not?
We had some literature available in the form of notes and blogs from fellow remote platforms. There were some inputs available from founders that had used remote workers themselves and then there were a lot of how to and me too content produced for the sake of SEO.
The problem was that most of these accounts were written with only personal contexts and there was no real research we could find that talked about real people and real stories. Also, we wanted to go the crowdsourced way to get the industry trends rather than a focused group or just hearing out from our favorites.
So mid-April 2018 we decided to do a road trip to capture real conversations on camera about remote work.
We spent 52 days on road, visited 14 cities and interviewed 500+ CXOs. The results of the study have been in line with our assumptions in most places but at few places, they have surprised us as well.
#MakeRemoteWork survey report is one of the most comprehensive reports on the current state and realities of the Remote Work Industry. We’ve gathered insights from over 500+ CXOs to compile this report. We’ve covered topics varying from cost, management & trust to difficulties, solutions and work environment.
