Re Human Day 54
Re-inventing ourselves has always been the most important skill. I’m re-inventing myself by improving in 15 areas at a time. This post is part of my Re Human project.
Daily Habits
Books: I’ve been listening to Platform Revolution. Some notes from today:
Frictionless entry for a platform is very useful.
Identifying what is your platforms core value action is also very useful.
Platforms enable demand economies of scale.
Meditation: 21 minutes in the morning.
Re Human Extended Activity: I did Salsa Dancing today. One of the best ways to internalize a skill/something you’re learning is to teach it.
So today at 2pm, I taught my girlfriend a couple of things I’ve learned in the Salsa classes I’ve been going! It was a very revealing exercise because I had to think through exactly the ways of doing things, without relying on the automatic “body/muscle memory”.
Writing: This post and a daily thought.
Digital Drawing & Painting:
Today I painted the perspective of the table in my girlfriend’s living room, looking at the windows:
Fitness: Today I practiced my handstands — I was able to hold it for like 6 seconds for one of the tries. I also did push ups — did 100 in a row (a hard challenge I like doing/playing).
Piano: Back in SF it’s easier for me to remember to do my activities because I’m following a routine and I know at around what times I do my habits. But during this visit at Brown I’ve internalized this power of routine! Today I almost forgot to practice piano, but I went outside with my girlfriend and we tried finding pianos that were open — we found 4 but all were taken (either by an orchestra or in a room where people were doing rehearsals and they explicitly had a sign to not play the piano, etc.). We had a dinner reservation so we had to go, so instead I just later watched a useful video on youtube on how to use / play with chords to be able to play “hundreds” of songs.
Soccer trick juggling: Did these inside my girlfriends house. Didn’t break too many things. Jk, nothing broke.
