I’ve been rereading some of my youth’s favorite books and I just finished The Famous Five by Enid Blyton that is about four children that live an incredible adventure together.

The story begins when the siblings Anne, Julian, and Dick travel to visit their cousin George (who is Georgina but identifies himself as George).

George owns an island, named Karrin, and that’s where he spends a lot of his time accompanied by his dog, Tim. When he decides to show the place to his cousins, a big storm arrives and brings a wrecked ship to the island.

The children start exploring it but something happens: they find a wooden box with an almost intact map inside. The instructions indicate that there is something hidden under the old castle on the island. Could it be a treasure?

What more waits for them?

What I love the most in this book is how George finds in his cousins a wonderful friendship and the necessary love to not be scared of being who he is.
