In the second installment of our “Meet the Team” segment, we wanted to introduce you to some of the people on the Render Team that you may know the best: our Community Moderators and Support staff! The Support Team for the Render Network has been expanding over the years, with new faces that our users may recognize, and some they may be less familiar with. Without further ado, let’s meet our Mods and Support Team:

When did you all first join the Render Network community?

Luke (Duncan): I first learned about Render (Network) through a friend and joined the community in early 2021.

Chris (TinyMotel): I’ve been an Octane user since ~2015 and have been following the growth of the Render Network since near the beginning.

Praveen: I got to know about Render Network back in July 2020 from Mr. Dark :) and I joined the community to learn more about RNDR (Token).

Edgar: I joined the Render Network community on Telegram in January of this year before officially joining the Render (Network) team.

How long have you been a Moderator for the Render Network?

Luke: I was brought onto the team in May of 2021 — been a Moderator for over a year now.

Chris: I was brought onto the team in February 2022 to help support artists & moderate.

Praveen: RNDR unofficial community (Render Network | RNDR — Unofficial Render Token Community chat on Telegram) has been my favorite crypto community and I was active in it, and became moderator for RNDR unofficial in May 2021.
And started moderating (the) official RNDR chat (Render Network | RNDR — Official Chat) in January 2022.

Edgar: I have been working alongside Moderators since February when I was brought onto the team

All of these users were brought together by two of our longest standing and most well known Mods, Padi (MacDaffy) and Mathis. Padi has been a part of the Render Network community since ~2017, first joining and becoming a RocketChat community moderator. Since then he has helped lead the moderating efforts across all of the Render Network’s community channels, including Slack, Telegram, Twitter, and most recently Discord.

Speaking of Discord, if you’ve been on the Discord server or have been searching for assistance with one of your scenes, you’ll have certainly run across Mathis. Mathis is our resident artist support specialist alongside being a prolific Render Network artist himself. An avid Octane artist for years, Mathis has since gone on to create tons of works using the service, nearing over 200 jobs on the Network alone, continuing to do as much since he joined the team full-time earlier this year.

What got you interested in the Render Network?

Luke: I was fascinated with the Render Network because it truly offered a unique service in Crypto. Allowing artists to access distributed GPU power was something that just made sense and it immediately piqued my interest. I think a lot of Crypto can often come across as flashy without real demand behind the product/service — it was refreshing to see a network that was truly useful to its community!

Chris: I’ve been a 3d artist working in film / tv & advertising since 2003. Render times and deadlines have constantly been at odds with each other, and seeing the unique angle as well as potential power and flexibility the Render Network offers was incredibly exciting to help speed up my workflow.

Praveen: Render (Network) was a very unique project as I researched about it, RNDR (Token) was one of very few projects with real utility that was aiming to solve a real world problem with implementation of blockchain and cryptography.

Edgar: I became interested and super passionate about the Web3 space about 2 years ago. Render Network is a company leading the transition from Web2 to Web3. I absolutely loved everything about the RNDR (token) and their solution. The Community Management role seemed like a dream for someone with my background and passion for community building and art.

What kind of background do you come from?

Luke: I have personally been immersed in the Crypto industry since 2017, moderating and advising for other projects and companies. I also recently completed my Degrees in Commerce and Property majoring in Finance!

Chris: I work primarily as a 3d artist and designer.

Praveen: I am a humanities student currently doing my bachelors. My hobby has been playing video games since childhood and that’s how I got interested in computers and crypto.

What is the most interesting part of moderating for the Render Network?

Luke: Meeting community members across the world from varying industries and interests. We have a diverse community full of awesome artists that use the network to create impressive pieces!

Chris: Coming more from the artist side of the community, it’s been really enjoyable to meet fellow artists who are tapping into the network and helping them achieve their goals and push projects forward. I’m also a big computer nerd so learning about other blockchain based platforms from the community and seeing the progress of distributed computing grow has been very exciting.

Praveen: Apart from helping community members learn more about Render Network, Perk of being official moderator is being able to pass community’s feedback to the core RNDR (token) team and bridging the communication gap, and also getting to know the side of the core team about community’s concerns.

Do you have any advice for Render Network users and community members?

Luke: My advice for the community is to get involved in RNPs and the governance of the network! Your voice and opinions do matter and can change how things operate, so please do immerse yourselves in the discussions.

Praveen: Totally agreeing with Luke, I would advise the community to give their feedback and input about Render (Network) as much as possible as it has proven to play a big part in directions/development of Render (Network).

Edgar: I want to continue finding new ways to support Render Network users. I want to personally get to know as many artists/users in our community as possible. I want to hear feedback, suggestions, ideas for collaboration opportunities, etc. My advice is to reach out to me or our team through any of our Render Network social channels, Discord (edgari#5620), or email (edgar.irizarry@otoy.com).

What are you most excited about in the future of the Render Network?

Chris: As the network continues to grow, I’m excited to see the work and art that comes out of it. One of the main limiting factors 3d artists always face is time, and having such a vast network available has the potential to help artists create more complex scenes and renders in shorter time resulting in better and better work. I’m also excited about new forms of media that will arise. Things like lightfield’s and holographics have the capability to push art into much more immersive experiences. I’m also increasingly interested and constantly experimenting with AI image creation tools. The crossover of those tools which are heavily GPU dependent possibly evolving into 3D and video is going to be amazing.

Praveen: I am hopeful about Render Network’s future that it will be world’s go-to solution for GPU resources for rendering and even general computing. And users will have access to it with once-click without even them realizing it.

Edgar: I am most excited about the new opportunities that our team will continue to create for the 3D artists in the Render Network. It’s pretty incredible to work with a team of individuals who are passionate about the audience that they’re serving, it’s also amazing to have artists and users of the Render Network on our team.
