The latest version of Octane Render, Octane 2022 is now available to use on the Render Network just in time for the transition to 2023, making the Render Network compatible with all stable versions of OctaneRender. As a result, the Render Network supports any production Octane workflow, giving artists the ability to harness the latest features of Octane 2022 on production rendering work with the ability to send final frame rendering to near unlimited decentralized GPUs on Render Network.

Octane 2021 introduced low-level denoising and sampling APIs, optimized scene graph traversal, and more efficient GPU memory management.

With Octane 2022, the Render Network development team improved the speed, performance, and accuracy of the render engine by introducing the Deep Learning Denoiser, improved instancing performance, and the all-new material library.

The Deep Learning Denoiser is a tool that uses machine-learning algorithms to reduce the noise in rendered images. The feature comes with several settings like anti-aliasing, local contrast enhancement, temporal filtering, and more to give the user more customization with render results.

The improved instancing performance helps reduce rendering times, optimize memory usage and the rendering of scenes with multiple objects, while the all-new material library offers a range of options for creating realistic surfaces and materials.

Other notable features in Octane 2022 are better sampling and the brand new native material system. Better sampling for DOF, motion blur and initial samples supports more effectively reducing noise to prevent loss of image quality and the native material system allows users to create their own shaders and materials quicker and easier.

We asked one of the team members at Render Network, Chris Carmichael (an artist and Octane user), for his thoughts on the updated rendering engine:

“The most exciting thing to me [when it comes to Octane 2022] is probably the new Photon Kernel. Arnold Standard surface is now supported. Overall speed improvements and a number of new textures / shaders which are handy”

Kyle Gordon x #RNDR Giveaway Winner:

After some setbacks within the past year or so, Multidisciplinary Artist, Creative Director, Experiential Designer, and Web3 Explorer, Kyle Gordon is anticipating an inspired and renewed creative flow in 2023.

In 2021, he stepped away from his ultimate passion for creating art to focus on building a Web3 startup; an NFT protocol building more accessible creator and social impact web3 tools.

“I learned a lot, but the startup life took a negative toll on my health over the course of a year.”

2022 was an exceptionally hard year for the artist. Kyle shares in a recent tweet that severe burnout and depression led to a loss in his creativity, disconnection from friends/loved ones, and overall a version of himself that he disliked. This period in his life drove him to aspire to a deeper connection with individuals who share a similar story to him.

“The Rabbit”, by Kyle Gordon

His latest released project “The Rabbit,” which was rendered on the Render Network, is a symbol of inspiration, longevity, peace, and prosperity.

“2023 is said to be a year of hope, which I believe strongly coincides not only with my newly found creative drive and inner peace, but for people all over the world struggling from the last few years.”

His invitation for a giveaway collaboration created the perfect synergy for Render Network to partner and give away an incredible piece of art while also supporting a long time user and talented creator on the Network.

“Enter the Year of the Rabbit, 2023. The year I invest in myself and my art. While scary to take that leap of faith, I felt there was no better way to usher in the new year than releasing a piece of art with the intention of sharing my work with more people.”

Thanks to everyone that participated in the Kyle Gordon x RNDR giveaway! Congratulations to Paolo De Matteis @Demaphotograph for winning an edition of “The Rabbit!”.
