Over the previous few weeks the Render Network has seen a number of changes, with the launch of the Render Network Foundation, the revival of the RNP voting process, and a host of updates to the platform itself. Keeping in line with all of these changes, a number of tutorials have been released over the last few weeks by some of the Render Network’s most prolific creators, ranging from basic to highly technical. With something for everyone at any skill level, let’s dive further into the latest in tutorials on the Render Network:

Getting Started with Brilly

Late last week OctaneRender artist and Render Network power user David Brodeur (aka Brilly) dropped a comprehensive tutorial on exactly how to use the Render Network from start to finish, with something for any creator at every skill level.

Getting Started on the Network

Giving a behind the scenes look at his exact process, which he admits to using almost daily for both personal and professional creation, Brilly walks through everything any creator, whether you’re a professional artist or a hobbyist just exploring the network, could need to make their experience run just right.

Example of the new live support chat function

We highly recommend watching the video in its entirety, but one of the newer features that Brilly highlighted is the Support Chat, which gives any user direct access to our world class support team, who are available to help nearly around the clock with hands on help.

Behind the Process with Zomax

Earlier this month, longtime OctaneRender user and Render Network OG Cornelius Dämmrich (aka Zomax) released an in depth tutorial for beginners looking to use the Render Network!

Look behind the scenes of “you touch, you buy”

Walking through how he used the Render Network for his latest project in the Planet Zomax universe, “you touch, you buy”, the video breaks down some of his creative process, why he used the Render Network for his project, and went through step-by-step some of the common practices of a high-level artist using the Render Network. For beginners and Render Network veterans alike, check out Cornelius’ tutorial for tips and tricks!

Understanding Caustic Rendering with Silverwing

Rounding off the trio of tutorials, Raphael Rau (aka Silverwing) went further in depth to the rendering engine behind the Render Network, dropping a theoretical video breaking down Caustic Rendering.

Comprehensive video breaking down caustic rendering

For those of you who work with caustics or are looking to get started but aren’t sure where to even begin, Raphael goes deeper than ever before, delving into the inner workings of pathtracers, OctaneRender and why these properties work the way they do. Any fan of insider baseball deepdives will not be able to resist Raphael’s knowledgeable look into a complex topic.

RNP-001 Vote Results

Earlier this week the final vote to determine whether or not RNP-001 (v2), the “Burn-and-Mint Equilibrium” proposal, would be accepted into the development queue for the Render Network concluded. With ~210mm RNDR Tokens cast to Approve vs. ~3.7k RNDR Tokens cast to Deny, the Render Network community made clear that they would like the Render Network to adopt this new tokenomics model!

In the immediate term this means shifting the token and the Network as a whole to this new model is added to the development queue. More information will be released in the coming weeks as work begins on implementing BME, so keep your eyes on the Render Network community channels for more info.

What’s Next?

All of these tutorials will be added to the Knowledge Base soon in a mass update, so keep your eyes focused on the Render Network Knowledge Base for a slew of updates in the near future!
