Generate Synthetic SAR Imagery for Rare Object Detection with Rendered.ai
TL; DR: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is changing how we view our planet. With the growing interest in developing artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for object recognition and classification, we hear from customers who want to access SAR datasets to test and train algorithms. Rendered.ai is publicly releasing the capability to generate remote sensing imagery for rare object detection. To try it for yourself, sign up for the Rendered.ai platform and input the content code ‘SARDEMO’ or contact us at sales@rendered.ai
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is changing how we view our planet. By using radar waves to create detailed images of the Earth’s surface, SAR is helping us understand our environment better, monitor global changes, and even detect potential threats.
SAR sensors emit energy, which is used to illuminate objects or areas on the ground. By recording the reflection of this energy back from the surface to the sensor, SAR sensors can acquire images day and night without the need for sunlight. This unique advantage allows SAR sensors to provide valuable information about the structure, composition, and movement of objects on the ground or ocean for applications requiring continuous monitoring or imaging in low-light or gray-sky conditions.
With the growing interest in developing artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for object recognition and classification, we hear from customers who want to access SAR datasets to test and train algorithms. However, real SAR datasets can be expensive and are only widely distributed within the government.
Is there a more flexible option for getting SAR data?
We’ve been expanding our customers’ access to diverse remote sensing domains on our platform for synthetic data generation. The Rendered.ai PaaS enables customers to generate physically accurate synthetic datasets to train and validate their artificial intelligence and machine learning models. We have released the capabilities of our SAR channel under the content code ‘SARDEMO.’
Our SAR channel allows for generating massive datasets on any platform that needs to be identified. Synthetic image generation lets users control the target's down-range resolution, cross-range resolution, and aspect angle. Our SAR channel can provide a rich and varied dataset for training AI algorithms to recognize unique vehicles by simulating a wide range of vehicles, lighting conditions, and backgrounds.
