8 Ways You Can Integrate Video into Your Daily Social Strategy

At a local event I recently attended, I listened to a keynote speaker give a talk on video and why it needs to be a part of your social strategy. This was not your cut and dry talk on why you need video. He didn’t bring up metrics we have all heard, such as how a VP of Facebook recently said, “90% of content by 2019 will be video”.

The talk was spot on and the speaker brought up some things I haven’t considered before. He posed a few insightful, yet powerful questions to the audience to get his point across. The conversation went a little something like this.

“How many of you in the audience read posts daily on social media?”* Almost everyone in the audience raised their hand. *

“How many of you post to social media daily?”* Almost everyone in the audience raised their hand. *

“How many of you in the audience watch video on social media daily?”* Almost everyone in the audience raised their hand. *

“How many of you post video to social media daily?”* Not one person in the audience raised their hand. *

The speaker was RendrFX founder, Mat Silva.

Do you see the disconnect here? Video is being consumed by all, but produced by few. This disconnect is what has caused video to be one of the least saturated mediums.

1) Use Video to Make Announcements

You have announcements to make on a regular basis. Whether it is for awards, product enhancements, employee functions, new hires, etc. No matter the topic, there will be plenty of announcements. What better way to show people exactly what you are talking about than with a video?

See how GoPro used video to announce their new drone.

Here is an example of a company making a local announcement using video!

2) Video Makes Promoting Yourself Easy

There is always something coming up you want to promote. Whether it is an upcoming event, a new product launch, an update to your software, or anything else you want your audience to know, video makes your message powerful and meaningful. If it is a big deal to you and you want it to be a big deal to your audience, then put it in a video.

In traditional marketing, if you want to promote anything with video it can be a hassle. You have to spend a boat load of money to hire talent, get your video filmed and edited, then spend even more to air it on TV in peak watch times and channels. Thank goodness there is a quicker and easier solution! Now it is easy to create a video and promote is online for a fraction of the cost!

Here is how you can make a promotional video from print materials!

3) Celebrate National Days

Did you know, every day is a national something day? February 1st is Hula in the Coola Day, May 3rd is lumpy rug day, but most important of all May 14th is National Chicken Dance Day. To get a calendar of the national days go here.

4) Get to Know Your Employees

An easy way to create video is to feature an employee each week. Creating simple videos showcases their story, how they help your business, and more importantly how they help your customers succeed. Make your company personable, become more transparent, and get each employees family and friends engaged.

See how Amazon did a ‘Meet The Team’ video to promote Amazon Echo!

5) Only The Cool Kids Are Live Streaming

Live streaming is one of the hottest topics of 2016 and platforms are pushing you to do it. They want to send traffic your way when you live stream to promote their service.

Be an early adopter. Set up a date and time where you live stream about consistent topics. Make sure to promote your event throughout the week and don’t think that only people watching live will see your content. Most live streaming platforms will allow you to automatically post your recording directly to your feed on your social channels!

Here are some tips on developing a live stream strategy.

6) Create Holiday Videos

Not only can you create videos for each Holiday, you can also create holiday videos beforehand for some pre-buzz excitement. People love Holidays, you can expect to get a lot of love when you are posting.

(TIP: Watch your spending on video ads after Thanksgiving. If your business is non retail, consider slowing your online marketing efforts for the month of December. This time period is incredibly competitive with retailers selling for the holidays. Double down in January where you can expect traffic to be at least 3 times cheaper.)

7) Make an Explainer Video

No matter what your product or service is, you can benefit from creating explainer videos. Explainer videos should be under two minutes and have a few purposes. Have a simple strategy, like a GET’EM, which stands for Give, Explain, Tell, Explain (even more), and Make. Here is a sample GET’EM strategy:

  • Give a call to action.
  • Explain the problem the viewer is having.
  • Tell your audience how life could be easier with your solution.
  • Explain how your product or service works.
  • Make it clear your product or service is the solution.

This 5 step formula helps you create an awesome explainer video. If you do it right, it may turn into one of your best converting assets and you will reap the benefits for years to come. Check out this explainer video created by marking guru Neil Patel’s company Crazy Egg.

8) Promote Your Company with Recruitment Videos

No one knows how awesome your company is as much as you do! Don’t be afraid to show off perks, benefits, and what makes you unique. When you are trying to attract talent to your company, you have to position yourself as an industry leader.

Here are some awesome recruitment vidoes:
