Disney’s The Lion King will be coming to the Hiway Theater in Jenkintown this Friday, July 19th, and we are relaxing our “no children under 6 years of age” policy so the whole family can enjoy the film together.

Before the film visit our “Make Your Own Lion Mask” station set up at the theater.

Here is our updated family-friendly policy for this film:

  • Just like at our monthly KiDS! screenings, we will not be enforcing our age minimum for the entire run of The Lion King. We selected this film to share the magic of film with the next generation of movie-goers and make sure our community theater was reaching all members of Greater Jenkintown.
  • While we are relaxing our policy, it is up to parents to decide if the film is suitable for their children. Even though most of it is family-friendly, there are some scenes in this version that might be frighting to some children. You can learn more about the content by reading the IMDb Parents Guide or Common Sense Media.
Yes, you can bring even your littlest Lion King fans.
  • Children under 2 years old will be admitted at no charge, assuming they sit on the lap of their parent. (One under-two per adult.) We expect sold-out shows and need accurate seat counts via ticket sales so everyone with a ticket gets a seat.
  • We will have crafts and coloring activities set up in the lobby before the film. Arrive early, get a good seat, and then enjoy some coloring or make a lion mask.
  • Our neighbors next door at Borough Brewhouse have put some great family-friendly specials together, so make sure to check out their offerings or any of the other wonderful restaurants in Jenkintown.

A couple additional notes for families:

  • We will have a space to store strollers in the theater lobby. We ask that you not bring them into the auditorium.
  • We do not have booster seats at the theater, but feel free to bring one from home or a pillow for your child to sit on.

If you would like to know more about the film or why we have decided to show it at the Hiway, you can read our other blog post here.

Thanks for coming to see movies at the Hiway. Doing so supports your local community. See you at the theater.
