The Film 101 series at the Ambler Theater invites guests from the world of filmmaking, film criticism, and film theory to present an exemplary film classic of their choice.

On July 21st we were thrilled to host Professor Michael Dwyer from Arcadia University to discuss John Waters’ campy classic HAIRSPRAY. Professor Dwyer teaches media studies, cultural studies and writing. His latest book, “Back to the Fifties” explores 1950’s nostalgia in film and music from 1973–1988, so Waters’ charming comedy was a natural fit. Professor Dwyer stuck around after the film to field some questions from the audience. Watch his entire presentation below!
