The Film 101 series at the Ambler Theater invites guests from the world of filmmaking, film criticism, and film theory to present an exemplary film classic of their choice.

On August 17th we hosted Philadelphia Inquirer film critic Steven Rea to discuss the stylish noir SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS. Who better than a “gentleman of the press” to introduce this classic story of corruption and deception from a powerful newspaper columnist. In addition to his film reviews, Mr. Rea has also published two books filled with amazing pictures from the Golden Age of Hollywood: Hollywood Rides a Bike and Hollywood Cafe.
