The Muziekodroom Club was the place to be on the Thursday 9 November. After five successful years, with performances far beyond Belgium, Doghouse Sam & his Magnatones introduced their third full album to the crowd. The Limburg rhythm’n’blues sensation entertained its fans with a thrilling performance, so it was hard to stand still and not to move to the rhythm.

Doghouse Sam and his Magnatones is a Rhythm’n’Blues band from Belgium. In the last five years the sensational trio has achieved an undisputed reputation in the European Blues Scene. With their instant recognizable sound, they have won the Belgian Blues Challenge and were nominated second at the European Blues Challenge. They performed concerts in more than 15 different countries all over Europe.

The band consists of three members. Doghouse Sam is the leader of the band, he writes and sings the songs. With his passion for music, he tries to bring something new and fresh to in the scene. Jack o Roonie plays the upright bass. With his instrument he has travelled all over the world and has already backed up big names like Roonie Dawson and Chuck Berry. The Drummer Franky Gomez has his own distinctive and creative style, with which he was nominated the best drummer of the Netherlands in the year 2012.

On the 9th of November Doghouse Sam & his Magnatones presented their new album “Going places” in a concert at the Muziekodrom Club in Hasselt, a small music centre for young individual bands.

This familiar atmosphere was the right place to perform new songs, like “A little while” or “Nobody else around”. All the musician wore a blue, jeans shirt, the same shirts like on the cover of their new album — perfectly fitting together and underlined their impressive performance.

The program that evening consisted of the 13 songs, mostly from the new album. Already when the trio started playing their first song, “Let’s sit down for a while” it was hard to keep your toes from tapping. At least by the bass solo in the second song, Nearly all the time, the trio has cast a spell on the whole audience. From young to old, every was moving to the rhythm.

At the middle of the concert Doghouse Sam changed to a, a slide guitar. In the next song he proved the quality and technic of the new instrument and started a unique solo-part.

Whether in “I was wrong”, “Nobody else around” or “A little while”, their performance was brilliant. The mood of all the different melodies were very moving, flowing, and with a smooth feeling.

“Do you feel it?” Doghouse Sam asked the audience, and with no doubt everybody in the concert hall felt the music. Fans got quite carried away by the songs. Everybody, the band and the audience, fully enjoyed the concert evening with the pleasant atmosphere and the brilliant music.

“Belgische blues met naam en faam!” — Belgian blues with name and fame, with this slogan the trio was announced. Listen to their unique sound, you can see that these three artists live for their music and enjoy every minute they are performing on stage.
