Simple Tips to improve your PC’s Performance

Has your PC been performing like a lazy sloth lately? Well, here are some tips and tricks to speed it up and restore it to its former self!

1. Update Windows

The best and easiest way to make sure you get the most out of your Windows PC is keep it up-to-date

  1. Click on the Start Button and click on Settings>Update and Security

2. Click on Check for updates and install them to get the latest and greatest from Microsoft

2. Update Device Drivers

Device Drivers helps different hardware components to function smoothly on your computer

To update Device Drivers:

  1. Install IObit’s Driver Booster application: https://www.iobit.com/en/driver-booster.php

2. Click on Scan to get updates

3. Click on Update Now to install the latest drivers

3. Switch to High Performance Power Plan:

Windows 10’s default “Balanced” plan reduces your PC’s performance in order to save energy. To prevent this you can switch to the “High Performance” mode

1. Search for “Control Panel” in the Start Menu

2. Search “power” in Control Panel

3. Click on Power Options

4. Click on Show additional plans

5. Choose High Performance Plan

4. Disable programs that run on Startup:

Your computer may feel sluggish if you have got too many applications running in the background and you can stop them from running to make your PC run smoothly

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc or search for Task Manager in the Start Menu

2. Click on the Startup Tab

3. Click on any unnecessary app that you don’t want your PC to launch it on Startup and click on Disable

5. Clean your Hard Disk:

If you have filled up your hard disk with too much files you don’t need you may be slowing down your PC. Cleaning your hard disk can give you a speed boost for your PC

1. Search for “Storage” in the Start Menu and open Storage Settings

2. Turn on Storage Sense

3. Uninstall unnecessary apps, remove large file and clear temporary files to clean up your hard drive

6. Defrag your hard disk:

The more you use your hard disk the more it becomes fragmented and will slow down your PC

1. Search for “Defragment” in your Start Menu and run the Defragment and optimise drives app

2. Select the drives that you want to defrag and click on Optimize all
