Republican Women to Watch on Super Tuesday

On Super Tuesday, people will turn out across the country to support their choices for not only the Office of the President, but also for their Congressional districts. There are 62 Republican women running in total on Super Tuesday — you can see the complete list by state here. As people head to the polls, Republican Women for Progress would like to highlight a few of the new Republican women running for office on traditional small government platforms.

CALIFORNIA:

10th Congressional District — Marla Sousa Livengood

Marla Sousa Livengood has dedicated her time to improving agriculture, transportation, economic development, and job creation for the majority of her career. Growing up on a farm, Marla understands the needs of the 10th District’s Agriculture Industry and hopes to continue to advance projects and policies important to the district.

39th Congressional District — Young Kim

Young Kim’s life and experiences as an immigrant have given her a unique perspective on America. Young’s background as a small business owner and a financial analyst gives her a strong understanding of the pro-business policies that can help continue to grow the economy and help her constituents in the 39th District. In 2014, Young became the first Korean-American Republican woman ever elected to serve in California’s State Assembly.

45th Congressional District — Both Peggy Huang and Lisa Sparks — RWFP is excited that there are two accomplished Republican women running to represent the 45th Congressional District.

Peggy Huang immigrated to the United States from Taiwan with her parents and siblings at seven years old. She earned a Bachelors Degree and Juris Doctorate, all while working two jobs to pay for school. She has since spent her career as a prosecutor and victims’ rights advocate. Peggy hopes to continue to help all residents of the 45th District by fighting for these same rights in Congress.

Dr. Lisa Sparks is an educator and academic researcher who is running to bring her experience and leadership to the problems facing our educational system. As a consensus builder, Dr. Sparks is focused on a small government platform with an emphasis on increasing opportunities for the constituents of California’s 45th District.

48th Congressional District — Michelle Steel

Michelle Steel’s campaign to represent California’s 48th District is grounded in her experience immigrating to United States from South Korea as a young adult. Michelle developed a passion for civil service and fiscal conservatism by watching her single mother work to provide her daughters with opportunities. Michelle is focused on improving her community through reining in government waste and managing the tax system better.

OKLAHOMA:

5th Congressional District — Stephanie Bice

Stephanie Bice has served in the Oklahoma State Senate since 2014. During this time, she has helped create approximately 5,000 new jobs, advocated for small business owners, and has led efforts to control state spending. She hopes to bring her fiscally conservative leadership style to Congress, where she can effectively advocate for the people of the 5th District.

TEXAS:

32nd Congressional District — Genevieve Collins

Genevieve Collins is a 7th generation Texan and businesswoman running to represent Texas’s 32nd District. Genevieve is looking to apply her strategic thinking, business experience, and understanding of her District to the challenges facing her constituents.
