Corrie Meyer is a first time Republican candidate for state senate in Indiana. Corrie is running against Mike Delph, a 12-year incumbent who’s never faced a primary challenge for Indiana’s 29th district. As one of the 75 women running for the Indiana State Senate this election cycle, Meyer is part of a growing trend of GOP women campaigning for elected office. Since 2014, the number of Republican running for office in the Hoosier state has risen from 15 to 23.

Corrie is an urban planner with experience working in city government who owns her own consulting business. In a recent interview with PBS News Hour, Corrie said she decided to run out of frustration with “turbulent politics.”

According to her website, Corrie’s priorities include economic development, infrastructure, workforce training, safer neighborhoods, and fiscal responsibility. As Corrie says in the interview with PBS, “every issue is a women’s issue.” She’s been endorsed by a number of elected officials (both current and former) as well as two firefighters’ unions and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.

Originally from a small community in Minnesota, Corrie finished high school in Indiana and earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Ball State University’s College of Urban and Regional Planning. She’s received a number of awards, including being honored as one of the Indiana Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 recipients in 2015. She and her husband have two sons and are active in their local church.

Corrie Meyer is a refreshing face in the Indiana State Senate race. As a small business owner with real-world experience, she understands what it takes to reshape economic policy and workforce development in the Hoosier state.

The Republican Primary for Indiana’s State Senate takes place on May 8th.

We believe that GOP women deserve to speak up, not stand aside. That we need to connect better, smarter. That being engaged in politics is mission critical.
