Women to Watch: Incumbent Edition

These profiles are part of Republican Women for Progress’ Women to Watch series, which highlights Republican women running for office in 2018 who are committed to working through the legislative process in a bipartisan way in order to create effective policy at the local, state, and national levels.

There are many impressive GOP women running for re-election this cycle, who support bipartisanship and developing meaningful policy solutions. Republican Women for Progress supports the policy platforms of eight candidates for the U.S. House and one candidate for U.S. Senate.

Jaime Herrera Beutler is running for re-election in the 3rd Congressional District of Washington State. Herrera Beutler was first elected in 2010 and has consistently opposed burdensome over regulation that impedes economic development. She supports improving resources for veterans and the need to make healthcare more affordable, but also, more available to rural communities.

Susan Brooks is running for re-election in the 5th Congressional District of Indiana. A former federal prosecutor, Brooks was first elected in 2012. Brooks has worked to promote economic growth, add jobs and enhance workforce development by preventing regulatory overreach. She has also worked to protect Americans with pre-existing health conditions.

Mia Love is running for re-election in the 4th Congressional District of Utah. Love was first elected in 2014 and as the daughter of first generation immigrants, understands the importance of fixing our current immigration system. A champion for bipartisanship, Love supports the legislative branch reclaiming authority over the budget and providing a check on executive branch agencies.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers is running for re-election in the 5th Congressional District of Washington State. McMorris Rodgers was first elected in 2004 and currently serves in the House leadership. McMorris Rodgers supports a balanced budget amendment to rein in government spending but also supports meaningful investment in our nation’s transportation and infrastructure system.

Elise Stefanik is running for re-election in the 21st Congressional District of New York. First elected in 2014, Stefanik is the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Stefanik prioritizes balancing the federal budget with the need to address evolving and complex national security concerns.

Ann Wagner is running for re-election in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District. Wagner was first elected in 2012 and has been a champion of free trade and reining in federal spending. Wagner has also worked extensively to address the sex trafficking issue & to protect our most vulnerable populations.

Jackie Walorski is running for re-election in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District.. First elected in 2012, she believes in working together on bipartisan solutions for our communities. She has also supported a balanced budget amendment to help limit federal spending & strongly opposed the tariffs.

Mimi Walters is running for re-election in the 45th Congressional District of California. Walters was first elected in 2014 and supports balancing the budget, reducing the national debt, and encouraging federal agencies to run more efficiently. Walters has championed increased pay for U.S. service members and increased access to quality health care for service members and veterans.

Deb Fischer is running for re-election to represent Nebraska in the U.S. Senate. Fischer was first elected in 2012 and has championed agriculture, transportation & infrastructure in the Senate. Fischer pushes back on regulatory overreach that negatively impacts jobs and quality of life in Nebraska.
