Request Network Project Update (May 11th, 2018) — Bitcoin and ERC20 release, PwC France visits Singapore, Blockfolio Signal & a new hire
The Request Network Foundation promotes the adoption of blockchain by providing a framework which allows everyone to develop their own financial solutions based on the Request Network technology. The Foundation establishes a standard for blockchain transactions, shaping the future of payments (i.e. invoices, loans, payments, salary, donations) and their compliance for accounting, tax and audit integration.

ERC20 & BTC support on Request Network mainnet. Bug Bounty effective.
We are happy to communicate that we have deployed both ERC20 & BTC support on the Request Network mainnet! After extensive internal testing and a successful audit of the ERC20 contracts by Clement Lesaege, CTO at Kleros, both BTC and ERC20 support is now operational within the Request Network protocol library. Now every developer can integrate BTC and supported ERC20 tokens as a payment option in their dApp. The first five tokens that are available today are KNC, OMG & REQ, DGX & DAI.
As both BTC and ERC20 support has hit mainnet, both also qualify for the ongoing bug bounty program which we’ve launched in March. The smart contracts that are specific to BTC & ERC20 support are listed below. The branch to audit is master.

Critical vulnerabilities will be rewarded up to $20 000, while major bugs will be rewarded up to $15 000. The rules & rewards applicable for the bug bounty program can be found here.
Both app.request.network and the native Request Network payments solution will receive an update to incorporate this new functionality.
PwC France visits the Request Network Foundation: A Week in the Lion City
We had the pleasure of hosting the PwC Blockchain Lab France at our offices in Singapore last week. Using their deep industry experience, they gave us insights into how the Request Network protocol will impact the way systems like accounting, payments, and invoicing operate.

The week started off with a deep dive into the technology powering the Request Network protocol, working together to identify the pros and cons of each use case, and brainstorming ways to make the technology better. After establishing that baseline of knowledge we collaborated on a road map for adoption, outlining key players in different target areas. With PwC’s deep industry connections they were able to identify areas where our technology would have a big impact and where blockchain was primed to revolutionize the way things operate.

In the end, it was our delight to welcome PwC France to our offices in Asia and give them an inside glimpse into the Request Network technology, and most importantly meet the team at the Request Network Foundation.
Request Network on the Blockfolio Signal Beta
Communication is key. Social media platforms are influential in modern society and the impact of this is very noticeable within the blockchain industry, as impersonating accounts keep being a danger to the community. While we continue to use our more traditional social media channels, like Twitter and Telegram, we more than welcome new initiatives that aim to improve the current social media landscape.
After great talks with the Blockfolio team, we are happy to announce that we joined a handful of other blockchain projects in the Blockfolio Signal Beta. The Beta incorporates the most promising blockchain teams to spread project insights directly to the Blockfolio community. With an active community of millions of users, the Signal social platform is looking to take a leading role in the cryptocurrency community. Aiming to create a safe environment for both blockchain teams and enthusiasts, we are excited to see how this platform evolves.

Increasing stability in cryptocurrency finance with MakerDAO
With great pleasure we’ve announced our partnership with the MakerDAO team to bring Dai to Request Network! We believe stablecoins are going to play a very essential role in the future of cryptocurrency payments, and being in direct contact with the Maker team allows us to be as efficient as possible adopting new features of the Dai stablecoin system. By using the Dai stablecoin as a payment option on the Request Network, anyone can send and receive invoices without ever having to worry about the high degree of volatility in the cryptocurrency market.
Through this partnership, financial dApps built on top of the Request Network can now use the Dai stablecoin to provide price stability against the value of the U.S. Dollar. Dai is available as a payment solution on the Request Network mainnet.

The Partnerships team is expanding! Brice to meet you.
Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of the Request Network Foundation, Brice Sturms! Brice has been very active behind the scenes as part of the Request Network community for over 6 months, playing an important role in developing the strategic partner ecosystem. One of his most recent successes has been the recently announced Wikimedia France partnership. Brice is a prime example of how a community member with the same passion as the Foundation team can contribute to growing the decentralized Request Network ecosystem.
Brice will take on the role of Strategic Partnerships, working closely together with Christophe Fonteneau to expand Request Network’s ecosystem of partners. With his entrepreneurial mindset and broad experience in the technology and nonprofit industry, Brice will be hyper-focused on identifying areas primed for growth that can be impacted using blockchain technology. Based in New York City, Brice is ideally located to make strategic connections and forge partnerships with some of the largest companies in the world. He will be working both remotely and from the Singapore office on a monthly basis.
While being primarily focused on partnerships, Brice will also be directly involved with app development, helping in product design and supplying ideas for products that can further build the bridge between the centralized and decentralized worlds. Using his previous startup experience, he will help these financial applications gain traction and accelerate the adoption of blockchain technologies built on top of the Request Network protocol.
Additional Tech Talk
We are now hosting our own nodes for Ethereum and IPFS to provide increased stability and robustness to the Request Network library. IPFS, or InterPlanetary File System, is a peer-to-peer method of storing and sharing hypermedia in a distributed file system.
New York Blockchain week around the corner
There’s only one weekend separating us from being present at Consensus 2018. While Robbin & Christophe are traveling towards New York City, Brice is making sure there’s a cab waiting for them when they arrive. Did we mention Brice Sturms is also attending this years Consensus yet?
We’re glad to have Brice strengthening the Request Network presence in New York City at Consensus 2018.
