Experiencing the Repo Workshops
This article is brought to you by Dana Chrisfield and Mark McElhaw.
We’ve been hard at work on the #research_repositories project and we’re ready for the next phase.
What are we up to?
Well… lots! We’ve been busily putting together a set of workshop materials that can be used as standalone templates for anyone to use by themselves. Alternatively, join in and take part in one of our biggest projects to date. We currently have 55 organisers signed up to hold workshops in 20 countries.
For Attendees
- Find a workshop nearby: Putting ResearchRepos on the Map and sign up on their event page listed.
- If you can’t find one, sign up with our participant form and we will notify you if there is a workshop nearby.
- Follow our guide for attendees to help you prepare. If you are attending, it would be useful to think about a research project you have worked on recently or are currently doing. We are finding the workshops so interesting that we strongly recommend doing the prep work. It takes the conversations and issues to the next level.
For Organisers
- Check out the map to see if someone is organising a workshop nearby and wants help: Putting ResearchRepos on the Map
- If not, propose one for your area here: Workshop Sign up. You’ll need to register with our participant form if you haven’t already.
- Read our guide for setting up and organising your own workshop at your workplace using our: Workshop Guide for organisers where we provide templates and ideas on how to guide the conversation and activities.
If you just want to run a workshop privately at your own place, great! We simply ask that you share back any relevant outputs so we can incorporate with our global insights. We will collate, index and ensure the data is anonymized. We do this because common good is in our DNA and we hope you can find a way to give back.
Summary
We’re really excited by this next phase and think you’ll get a lot out of it yourselves. And if you haven’t already, join us in the community by clicking the Join link at the bottom of this page: https://researchops.community/.
