In our 5th town hall web meeting Dave (Dave Hora) and Tomomi (Tomomi Sasaki) kicked off their call for organizers of the next global ResearchOps workshops about research skills.

Dave walked us through the process the global volunteers took in developing the workshop concept and material. He described the learnings from the first workshops and how they adapted the material.

Of course, Dave and Tomomi were also explaining how to run your own local version of the research skills workshop and answering questions from the audience.

One of the questions was around how the skills framework fit into the #WhatIsResearchOps framework we introduced last year. The team explained that latter is about doing ResearchOps, the skills framework is about the skills you need to do user research and design research. Once this series is done, the ResearchOps Community can turn their attention to a skills framework for ResearchOps. They noted that the skills required to do user research and design research strongly impact on the tools required to do the job, and that scaling research is all about giving researchers the capacity to grow in both scale and capability.

The skills framework workshop can also be run independently from the previous ResearchOps framework workshops and is applicable to corporations as well as agencies and addresses anyone who is concerned with research capabilities in an organization — no matter how big these are.

So now it is about you: organizing or taking part in one of the skills workshops this April to June! It is a great way to start a local community in your town and help researchers to learn more about how to develop to the next level professionally.

You can follow the town hall in our recording above and go through the slides again. Sign up or watch what is going on in our workshop channel on slack.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
