Where to eat in Stockholm
During my recent trip to Stockholm, I was working remotely on New York hours. I ended up loving this weird working schedule. I would explore the city from 9am-3pm, work 3pm-12:30am, and then sleep 1am-9am. Since I working during dinner hours, I decided to orient my trip around a daytime delicacy — pastries. Each day, I explored a new part of the city in search of the best cardamom bun.
Cardamom Buns
I’ve always been a huge fan of cardamom, so I was excited to learn how ubiquitous cardamom buns (aka kardemummabulle) are in this city. They were all delicious, so it’s really about finding the one that meets your taste — they ranged from bready to buttery and from sugary to spicy. Many bakeries were closed for summer break, but these were the favorites I tried:
- Lillebrors Bageri This is the winner in my book, super fresh, amazing mix of sugar and spice, and a ton of butter — maybe a little bit too much butter, but hard to complain about that. I also got a sugar-coated almond tea cake (called a mazarin) that I would gladly eat every single day.
