Hilary Rodham Clinton (day 19)

it is always white men
who tell me her failings
the coworker who couldn’t stomach
the idea of voting for her
her emails an acid
eating away any right to the white house

my grandfather crowing
when she lost
she was terrible
he’d read it
a secret service officer wrote a book
she couldn’t even keep her husband in line
how could she run a country?

they have so many reasons
too much policy
didn’t smile enough
neoliberal war hawk bombing
just wasn’t comfortable with people
an angry corrupt bitch
out of touch with the people

it is always the white men
telling me
always white men
revealing the distance from here
to equality
