The detention of Palestinian minors, very popular
Within the ranks of a Zionist Israeli government
Flying in the face of international law and human rights,
And why not when they can get away with it,
Flexing their power-backed muscles.

Ahed Tamimi a teenager, incensed,
In a heated moment at the entrance of her home,
On learning a rubber bullet shot at close range
To the head of her seriously injured cousin, lashed out
At two big brave soldiers who were no match
For this 16-year-old girl with a slap and a kick.

Their David, a young girl? But she carries no slingshot!

These military goliaths saw to the arrest of the young Ahed Tamimi.
An eight-month military prison sentence followed intimidating
Interrogations by males, of course, a female request denied,
Along with her basic human rights.

A known dissident from a young age, waving her fist
At a soldier towering over the then twelve-year-old.
This terrifying experience must have seen the poor soldier
Take his leave from bullying due to PTSD.
After all, Ahed was “viewed as a threat to the military’s deterrence policy,”
With her wild curly hair and female grit.

Released to a hero’s welcome in her home village of Nabi Saleh
In the west bank, becoming an international icon spot lighting
The imprisonment of minors by the Israeli government
To the protests of the international community.

Once again Ahed’s family is torn apart as the Zionist government
Got their revenge arresting Ahed’s brothers. Now it’s their turn to enjoy
The pleasure of very welcoming Israeli prisons.

Thank you Meg for giving my words a platform here at Resistance Poetry.
Thank you all for reading and your precious time, always. J.
