America, remember me?
I’m the black boy
You beat and killed
Emmit
Treyvon
Two of thousands
Innocent brown bodies
Caskets filled

America, remember me?
Mr. Black Man
Your favorite slave to be
Shackles and nooses
Transformed into
Cuffs and bullets

America, remember me?
When the earth begins to shake
Beneath your oppressor feet
I be the innocent souls
You sent to the grave early
Life’s cut short
Rising once more
A reckoning we seek
To make true
This be the land of the free
