There are sacred texts few of us have read,
Ancient books that run the rivers red —

— As we project unto God every fear that we feel,
So, we justify hate, and also, our zeal,

To the newborn lamb, to global disorder;
We exploit. We lie. We cheat. We murder.

We poison our planet to feed insecurity,
Then exalt ourselves to parade our purity.

If thou would worship a God that makes nations greater
Pray we find words that say: “Love thy neighbor.”
