tender still,
in years and looks,
searching for a place
he’d learn to call home

he found himself,
hidden within
texts and books,
and faraway lands,
seeking the unknown

he’d walk for days
to chase the pain,
tangled deep,
within his centre:

but with culture
outnumbered,
threads of kinship
unraveled, and
just like that,
home had become
the stranger
