Back To Basics

A poem about unmet needs

Declutter
No, it was
Minimalism
No, it was
Back to basics,
she said

No need to gorge
No need to have
No need to
anything

So much need
when there isn’t
basics

Back to basics?

Water, that
refreshes
Like water
Straight from the waterfall
Water, that
tastes like life

Air, that
replenishes
Like air
cleaned in your body,
given to mine

Food, that
tastes like one's life
was sacrificed
in your farm

Love, that
touches my body
hears and sees
Love
nurturing, like
nothing else could ever be

Back to basics,
she said
But I have never tasted basics,
I said
