Tupac called us caterpillars,
indoctrinated into self-loathing,
trapped inside our selves
our bodies, more ash than skin,
how we supposed to breathe right
when we live in smog and
bathe in their nuclear waste?
the last time I ate something
I was too young to know
the difference between
permanence and me,
only permanent destiny
is the turning of the soil
as it swallows me.
