I wrote this in the summer, right when all the protesting started but didn’t want to share while it was still so raw.

No one ever wants to speak up
against injustice and hate
they want to wait
until they can relate
[but] by then it’s too late.

Once it comes knocking on your door
there’s nowhere to hide
nowhere to run, it’s already inside
just ask those before you who have tried
the many who’ve died.

People can only handle so much
before they break
ask yourself
how much discrimination could you take?
