Imagine if life,
ticked and tocked
Like a stopwatch
with an end.

Such a clock exists,
doomsday it was termed
it is a metaphor for the end.
It warns us of our greed
born of hegemony and might.
Climate change and nuclear bombs
existential threats, the clock records.

Now imagine if this clock we call death
was a call to make amends.
For the bombings and the wars,
from Mogadishu to Baghdad.
For the destruction of our soil
with toxins and black gold.
For the famines and the droughts
and the rest of the world’s ills.
To do this, we provide
a world for more men.

It is a 100 seconds to midnight.

Thank you for reading.

The Doomsday Clock was developed in 1945, following the end of WW2. It is universally recognized as an indicator of man made existential threats.
