Endemic expectations,
My father’s father’s Truth.

Passed down the tree as seasons change,
Once supple transience of youth
Transformed the Souls made destitute.

Hollowed out by war, neglect, abuse
Tormented heartstrings, wrought and rotted,
Were warped beyond their plot allotted.

Though tangled branches never broke,
Became a new Soul’s timeless yoke.
Those saving Truths that once were wise,
Now suffocating Lies.
