Tropical Africa had a most deadly disease but of mild infection
And now the world has a contagion of low mortality but rampant infection
Both born of man’s intrusion to natural habitats
Of our attempts to destabilize ecology
Not to be cynical, but what happens when a new contagion comes around
Of Covid’s infection and Ebola’s mortality
Should we simply wait and hope such a scenario never occurs
Or should we rethink our ways
And not dare nature’s retort
From sanitary practices in poultry farming
To wildlife hunting
And all of man’s intrusions
We must persist to change and resist extinction
Generations quite literally depend on it
