Fires In Our Guts and Hearts

Sigh. Guess I am a Demon Rat,
And not a Trumpeteer
Rodents, screeching, in our brains
And yet, what can you hear?

I’ll join a new third party when
When the party décor changes
Faith in humanity restored again
Five thousand fires rearranged

Searing summer scorched with fear and hate
Burning. Breathing, hard to do…
If you are a being, you relate
We’ve all got work to do

Cough not. Don’t let it “dominate”
Don’t let blame spill more gas
Unity is our brightest fate
|Even, this fire, too, shall pass
