Globalizing
Chanso poetry form
It is a planet of people floating in space
interconnected together caught in a web
of responsibility for the human race —
survival is not an individual choice.
Worldlessness runs rampant death in alienation —
nationalism steals hope from the bleeding heart
broken into multitudes of rejection’s hates
turning what was meant to be together, apart,
and apart you shall stand in death’s empty cages
divided walls in delusions of safety
and genocides of history’s ongoing ages
while we watch humankind commit world suicide
like dumb animals devouring their clueless young
rampaging horror knocking on every door
with lit screens serving up life’s bloody dung
oozing the stink of morbid curiosity.
Truth of understanding of wisdom’s choice
leads to healing leads to life from God’s voice.

The French Chanso poetry form is an adaptable form of poetry which consists of five or six stanzas with an envoy that is half the size of a regular stanza. The stanza can consist of 3–4 lines with the same number of syllables with the choice of rhyming scheme made by the poet. I chose 12 syllables with the rhyming scheme of abac, abcb, abac, abcb, aa.
This poem is based on the political theory of Hannah Arendt (1906–1975) who was a German Philosopher who expresses the political key concept of “realistic cosmopolitanism” which refers to the common world between people and is a theoretical framework devoted to renewing the world when worldlessness sets in.” (Kattago 2014) Worldlessness is described as “alienation from the world which leads to the rejection of everything that is shared in common.” Arendt believes humanity has a collective responsibility which is “globalizing one’s responsibility to others and the world shared with others.” (Lu 2000)
