I bleached my eyes

poured Drano in my ears
thinking I could purge
everything I’d seen and heard
my heart swollen from the absurd

day after day goes by
as lies grow louder
like the giggles of rabid hyenas
while the truth dies in a whisper

and men, they are mostly men,
soil themselves in public without shame
as their lemmings cheer them on
waving their second amendment rights
like bloody tiki torches

there isn’t enough bleach
to blind me
from what we all can see.
