Illusions
A poem about realizing what really matters in life

Free me from the illusions
that keep me from good things
Chasing dreams
that only feed
the addiction
of the temporary highs
I’ve been blind
to what really matters
and the true gems
that shine quietly
I keep looking
for the fantasies
that I’ve been told
that I should want
Truth be told they only exist
in the minds of unsatiated
Time to let go
the illusions
and start savoring
the treasure in my hands.
