we live in a world of ice
in spanish we say hielo
when something is cold
we say helado (frozen)
translatable understanding
we know what the
numb feels like
the sting that’s not a sting
but still (stings) arde
like seeing children
inside metal cages
niños with faces
like mine
dark hair
like mine
could swear
they even sound like
I did when I was younger

they chew on the bones
of children around here
and they never tell you
what they do
with the bodies
