One flick of the thumb (one second)

It takes one second to breath in,

one second to look down at a headline,

pictures of a flooded high street,

moving on takes one flick of the thumb,

moving on to the next picture,

a stabbed man lying in a blood black pool,

moving on takes no time at all,

just one flick of the thumb.

It takes one second to lose your grip,

one more second and your drowning,

just one flick of the thumb and gone,

moving on you become a fading memory,

moving on, the headlines forget you,

with one flick of the thumb move on.

Moving on to a part of this or that,

moving on like a shroud on a bad day,

it takes one second to break,

it takes one second to ask you OK,

just one second before it’s too late,

everyone’s moving on, everyone’s gone.
