Wave
Make sure to be seen
Or they’ll move on
Quickly and keen
Fake blindness
A continuous theme
Easier to ignore your hunger
If you’ve never been seen

Poverty’s problem
Invisibility
People sight
Politicians talk
Never fight
Stomach’s growling
Through the night
It’s not them, or their kids
It’s alright

They ate dinner
Hold that belly tight
Fret not
Vote for me
They promise to end your food plight
False truth, a subplot
Lines rehearsed and spoken before
Meanwhile you’ve grown familiar with hunger knots

Days on end
Empty plates at dinner time
While they serve their political dish to friends
Here’s a handout
Bread, no butter
Take it with a smile
The rest of us will throw out good food
What could have been eaten
Wasted, growing in a garbage pile
Kids need to eat
Keep them waiting
