The Gilman’s house was up for sale
and rumors starting going round.
A Negro family set to buy
and bring some color to the block.
The Doyles, I heard, were set to move
and two more families would go too
if Gilman’s house was sold to them.
The Doyles should not have worried so.
The family saw the unkempt house
and left to find a better place.

I studied religion at the UC-Berkeley and have been interested in the spirit ever since. I try to give my poems a spiritual aspect whenever possible.
