Pushing away from the table of universal hum-drum
a feast of continual drivel,
a meal washed down with boredom.
A dessert exactly like all the others:
tragically everyone is there,
everyone is feeding on the same sense of belonging that just means you
fit in.
Your uniformity means you don’t get bullied.
Your uniformity is your aquiescence
to mutual brutality
put on display by authoritarian
blandness.
A veneer of independence.
A facade of freedom.
Belief in individuality
delivers one more slaying of the soul.
