Refugee Child
A poem
I am just a misplaced star
Pretending to shine
In a foreign solar system
That has learned well
To carefully seal its walls
To sweetly breathe in its oblivion
I do not have a home now
My only home is
The statelessness
A no place, without earth
Somewhere in the tiny cracks
Between two breaking worlds
I cannot be heard from here
I can never be seen
I do not have stamps to
Cross oceans claimed by
Countries that pledge
Freedom
In between borrowed earth
And a fantasy of a homeland
I must float now
I must hold on to my mother’s silk
And pretend life
Was gifted to me wrapped
In an ever vanishing globe
Without gravity.
