Relentless

Hot wind from the east,
scorching souls from within

Leaders spinning yarns,
like a web to hold their prey.

A tempest across a nation,
tearing lives from their foundations.

Some thought it the end,
while others hoped it a beginning.

Blowing and howling,
never ceasing

Disease and carnage,
innocents murdered.

Independent minds,
Scourged for their thoughts.

Hot wind from the east,
It was relentless.
