Resistance Poetry 2018.8
1K
Who owns this Raptor with the Don’t Tread on Me decal, black and white patriotism and RUSNBOT plate? Either he, and I’m assuming it’s a he, has a great sense of humor or is a complete asshole. Maybe both. They aren’t mutually exclusive.
Anyhow, I had to laugh when I pulled into the parking space behind this beauty, and it got me thinking how what we do at RP is the opposite of botdom. If bots are the empty calories of social media, doing nothing but elevating your blood pressure and turning your brain to flab, Resistance Poetry is its slow food movement. So complex and slow-digesting are our confections, bots and their human, knee-jerk counterparts seem to leave us alone. Which, frankly, is a relief.
So obscure are we, that I was astounded to see us pass the 1K Medium mile mark this month. That’s right! Fifteen months after it was created, 1000 poems and counting by more than 100 poets have been tagged Resistance Poetry.
As the odometer rolled round, I was watching. The lucky winner of the distinction of having the 1000th poem was new (to us) poet maurice blocker with his Born Hated (see link below). Sorry, Maurice, you don’t win the truck, just our gratitude.
So, poets and readers, pat yourselves on the back and enjoy this month’s collection.
