The spiraling fate of humankind puts me on edge.
There are those days where there seems to be
No positive direction to bring about the change
So desperately needed to halt our wanton demands
On each other and the world in which we live.

Lack of regard for those who have little or nothing
Pushed to the back of what little moral conscience
The crumbling western dream has retained,
More so now the global pandemic has taken hold
And given this self-centered neo-liberalised society
A wake-up call nearing something called sobriety.

A political media encouraged the blame culture
Where we now reside, welcomed with our open arms
Those who pretend to lead, those who blatantly ignored the fact
That they were chosen to serve us.
Yet they serve only those who sponsor their bank accounts and their careers, Leading us towards self-destruction taking down the rest Of humankind.

This piece is in response to Tree Langdon, CPA, CGA challenge to write something without using the emotional word in the piece. The word I left out is “Concern” Thank you Tree for this challenge.

Thank you Meg for giving my words a platform here at Resistance Poetry.
