Searching For Beds

For Black Women

Doctor says I need more sleep,
so I shop online for a
new bed.

Find me
a good deal.
A steal.

Something I can
grow into.

Beds for black women,
range from Queen
to casket.

Starch white to accentuate
our skin,
our burgundy lips,
the roses laid at our slippers.

The softest pillow,
made of gold,
to crown our braided hair,
embellished with rubies.

Made from feathers
flown in from paradise.

Extra long,
so we can sleep
with our hands up.

Beds for black women,
designed for nightly use,
or eternal life.

Comfort level,
low,
but our bodies,

our bodies know love,
love and beauty,
in the face of ache, pain,
pressure.
