Sick and Tired

Yes, I am,
Sick
And
Tired.

I have a life,
A busy one —
My work,
My home,
My husband,
My grandchildren,
My writing.

My days start
Early
And end
Late.

But, my energy
Was
Enough —

Until you.

Now I am a
Daily
Activist
Trying to save
This country
I call home.

I am too old
For
This shit.

You and your
Army of Darkness
Are chewing away
At my hours
Like termites
In an attic.

The tweets
The exec orders
The resignations
The firings
The hirings
The threats
The whining
The lies —
The constant whining
The constant lying —

The breaking White House news
Every
Damn
Night.

Protests
Through mail
And phone calls
And faxes
And texts
And petitions
And social media

Protests
On street corners
In marches
At courthouses
In town halls
At speeches

The protests
Don’t
Stop —

Can’t
Stop.

I am too tired
For
This shit.

Donations
Almost weekly to
ACLU
Planned Parenthood
Human Rights
Southern Poverty Law
National Resources Defense
Lambda Legal —

The list goes on and on and on
But my money does not.

I did this shit
When I was
Young
And
Energetic.

The 60’s are gone
And you should be too.

Get the hell out
Of my head,
My time,
My wallet,
And

My country.

Yes, I am
Sick and Tired
Of being
Sick and Tired

And

I am
Sick and Tired
Of
YOU!

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
