Fractured feet
Broken toes
Backs whipped bare
Flesh and bone
Sleep tight
The field awaits tomorrow
Bloody fingers
Cotton pickin’ woes
Slave days
The American way
Free birds fly away
Brown skins wingless
Freedom fighters
Heart of lions
Long battle
We gone keep trying
Centuries later
Brown faces
Still cryin’
Damn
We tired
Rest a bit
We ain’t give in yet
Fight still going on
Battled and tested
Keeping at it
Until victory met
Powered by our ancestors
Faith pouring out of our chests
