Whose Virus is it Anyway?

Would I catch it,
if running away?
It was a dark time.
Didn’t see it coming.
Nobody did.

But they caught it,
without trying.
Wasn’t a ball.
Microscopic and a game of tag.
You’re it.

Catch your breath!
“Ring Around the Rosie,”
“Pockets Full of Posies,”
can’t help us now.
They didn’t remember.

Can you come out to play?
But, stay inside,
Draw the curtains!
No ones home,
anymore.

Some will die,
many will survive,
to bury their dead.
Ghosts of the past,
came back to play.
