Tax plan truths

Or “How not to balance a budget”

Robber barons balance the budget
By stealing from the poor
To give to the rich

Republicans never learned the lesson
Being a robber baron doesn’t pay
The poor don’t have enough

Killing off the deductions that make a difference
Like state taxes — charitable giving
And health care — again

Making it harder for students to continue
Making them pay tax on every dime
Whether they see it or not

Citizens in states which didn’t vote red
People learning, people helping
These are who this bill hurts

Why do this? You might ask those in power
You won’t like the answer they give
“Our donors do require it”

This, my friends, is the crux of the matter
Republicans care about the richest
Not the middle nor the rest of us

If you have time to do anything but work
You might have time to learn
How to be a better citizen

If you had energy, time, money to spare
They fear you would learn to
Vote these creeps out of there
