The day the sun stopped burning
everyone started hurting;
physically, emotionally
financially, mentally.

The new normal arose,
the economy froze.
People lost their jobs, businesses and homes,
then started dying in droves.

Told to stay inside,
those who didn’t want to hide,
defied the warnings
completely ignoring
those in mourning.

Willing to trade lives of the “few”
for the “rights” of the many . . .

How selfish a country are we
to use freedom as an excuse
to be so carefree
while handing out abuse!
